About The Hospital
Pentecost Hospital-Tarkwa then known as The Church of Pentecost Clinic started as a mobile clinic in 1984 rendering services to the eighteen (18) communities within the Wassa West District with eight (8) health workers. It was then headed by an expatriate Nursing Officer. Lack of patronage from clients in the villages the Clinic was a great financial loss to the church. Taking into consideration fuel and maintenance costs, staff salaries and allowances, and high cost of essential drugs, it almost become obsolete.
The leadership of the church of Pentecost Tarkwa Area, headed by Apostle S. K. O. Chamel and Pentecost Social Services (PENTSOS) secured a loan to acquire a facility for a static Health centre operation in 2004. This all-important decision cannot be mentioned without acknowledging the input of the then Health Service Manageress, Mrs. Matilda Mensah, Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) and Alpha Medical Centre (Now Pentecost Hospital, Madina).
Static health centre status accreditation process was commenced during the period under the leadership of Mr. Oheneba Bediaku Assumang who was the leader of the eight member staff on 1st August 2005.
Health Facilities Regulatory Authority (HeFra) accredited and gave the facility a license to operate as a hospital in December 2019.
The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) also accredited the facility as a primary Hospital in April 2021.
