Magnus Carlsen was in the venue as Ian made a draw against Richard Rapport, but was silent on whether he will defend his title. If he doesn’t, Nepo will play the runner-up, and that will be Hikaru Nakamura, who defeated Jan-Krzysztof Duda, unless Ding Liren wins their last-round game on Monday.
